MyLeague, in striving to improve it's users' online experience, is redesigning their site.
This redesign will be rolled out in phases and the first phase will be for a select few myleagues who are willing to beta test the new design, programming, and report on any bugs.
Mountain Euchre is extremely proud to be 1 of the 24 MyLeagues (out of 4000) chosen to participate in the first phase of the redesign!! The Mountain truly rocks!!
Within the next few weeks you will notice some changes - particularly with the main page.
What this means for members:
- No more frames or left sided links. A completely new main page with new updated and user-friendly links or tabs.
- A lot of information that members used to search for with several links will now be consolidated on the main page.
- Log in box at the top of the main page. Members need only to log in once to join multiple tourneys, report a loss, post in the forum etc. Once logged in member's ladder bux stats will display and update in real time.
- Tourney events listed middle of main page updated in real time.
- Tourney info and member's Ladder Bux balance will be listed at the top of every page, such as Find Player, Message Forum etc.
- Premium membership features will be easier to find. Find Player, Tourney Player Card and More Info all consolidated on one page.
- Gifting bux is easier PLUS
- Increase in amount of bux premium members may donate: 2,000 weekly for platinum and 10,000 weekly for diamond
- TD donation increased to 20,000!
- Every member will now be able to upload an avatar (previously just for premium members)
- Important links easier to locate and use such as Report Loss and Tourney Jump Box all at top of main page.
Cases programmers have been working long and hard for many months on this new redesign, which by the way will also include the MyLeague.com main page, but undoubtedly there will be bugs, skips, and bumps with the new design and programming. The Mountain staff will be working closely with Cases programmers to report and correct any bugs and suggest any improvements to the redesign and main page.
Any suggestions or comments you may have are all welcome.

Our Player in the Spotlight this month is midnight_wolf_2004, known to us all as Gina.

Gina was born in Bay City, Michigan on November 15, 1969 during a snow storm. She still lives in Bay City.
Gina joined Mountain Euchre probably way back shortly after it started. She was playing on the Ladder Leagues, and then her brother-in-law told her about Mountain. She joined and has been a member ever since. She has had a few names under this league. She started out as Jinx29f, then went to LadyGina34, and has been midnight_wolf_2004 for 3 years, and it’s getting old.
Gina has too many favorite players to list. She has seen players come and go for one reason or another. She has many friends on Mountain, and there have been some very special people in her life, that have said kind words, and made her smile when she was down. She thinks you all know who you are, and you have a very special place in her heart.
Gina’s job is home maker, mother, and wife. She is certified as a medical assistant, and worked in the urology field until her mom became very ill, then she quit her job to help take care of her mother. She liked being home when the kids got out of school, so she never went back. She does miss very much working in a doctor’s office, but there are no jobs to be had in her area.
Gina’s husband’s name is Dale and he has played in Mountain from time to time. She has a 19 year old son named Trevor who has been doing Demolition Derbies, and Figure 8's since he was 16. Her brother has been running these since he was 18, and Trevor now takes part in it. So Gina and her family travel from fair to fair throughout the State of Michigan during the summer months. Her son Trevor has big shoes to fill as her brother has won probably over 100 trophies. So far her son has about 5 trophies from this sport and has also won an award as rookie of the year. Gina is very proud of him.
She also has an 11 year old daughter, Courtney. Courtney is in middle school, likes to dance and sing - everything a girly girl likes to do. She keeps Gina running here and there.
Gina’s youngest is 6 Dale Jr. He has asthma and is often sick. She has spent many nights giving him breathing treatments, and just taking care of him. Because of the asthma, he seems to get every bug that goes around.
Gina says that Bay City is pretty boring, however she did once see Mr T around town.
He was brought there to be a body guard for a wealthy man in town. But other than that, nothing exciting ever happens in Bay City.
Gina has two dogs Named Cassie and Princess who were in the pet of the month section, a few months back.
Mountain Euchre holds a very special place in Gina’s heart. People have helped her through some tough times, by the right words, or by sending a blanket or two. Someone from the league even sent her a computer when she lost hers and couldn't’t afford to get a new one. She has had a pretty hard time for the past year financially and emotionally, but her friends at the Mountain have always been there to help. Gina would like thank Mountain for giving her a place to call home.

Dry Hands Tips

Struggling with dry hands can be pretty painful.
Even if you are diligent about keeping them protected when doing housework or gardening, or from the harsh weather elements and unfailingly apply moisturizer whenever the opportunity arises, you can still suffer from bone-dry, cracked, parched hands.
It is still of vital importance to protect your hands from dish detergent, laundry detergent, excessive washing, and irritating ingredients, and also when doing potentially irritating manual activities such as yard work or sports.
Wearing gloves to prevent contact with these types of products and ingredients is of the utmost importance.
However, a significant number of women may find they are allergic to latex gloves.
The faster you get an emollient moisturizer on your hands after washing, and the longer you can keep it on, the better. (Note: Any good, emollient moisturizer will work—it does not have to be labeled "hand cream" to be used on the hands.)
It helps to keep small tubes or bottles of moisturizer all over the house, including near the kitchen sink, in the bathroom, at the bedside, and in the garage.
Keep more in your car, purse, briefcase, and desk drawer. That way it is never out of reach for a quick application.
The best moisturizers for daytime are moisturizing sunscreens whose active ingredient is avobenzone, titanium dioxide, or zinc oxide.
As an added benefit, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide provide an occlusive barrier that can act as a protective layer to retain moisture in the skin while keeping the sun's rays off the skin. (Bear in mind that brown "sun spots" on the back of hands and arms are a direct result of relentless, daily, unprotected sun exposure.)
If your cuticles are also dry and/or cracked, make sure to moisturize them with a very emollient, thick moisturizer.
Almost any moisturizer for dry skin will do, and it is not necessary to purchase special cuticle creams: they contain absolutely nothing special for the nail or cuticle. Products with glycerin, petrolatum (Vaseline) or other oils are wonderful cuticle-softening options.
This winter, keep your hands and cuticles supple. Your hands say a lot about you.

Tortellini or Ravioli Bake
Soooooooooooo Simple and they’ll rave!
1 pkg. tortellini or ravioli (frozen) I like cheese stuffed but any will do
1 lg. jar spaghetti sauce your favorite type (OR you may doctor up your sauce with ¼ tsp of red pepper, 1/4 cup sugar, 2 tlbs of Italian seasoning, sautéed diced onion, sautéed mushrooms, canned chopped tomatoes….. what ever your heart desires )
1 package Italian sausage cooked – (3-5 links) (boil till cooked 15 min)
1 8 oz bag of shredded cheese
Throw the frozen tortellini or ravioli into a baking dish
Stab boiled Italian sausages with a fork, take scissors and cut off thin slices
Mix up the sauce and extras, pour over tortellini and slightly mix to get some sauce on the bottom
Top with cheese
Cook at 375 about 35 – 45 minutes (watch the cheese)
Let it sit for 10 min.
Easy and delicious

How I learned to play euchre...
Posted by brown_eyed.girl: Someone asked me this question the other day and I couldn't remember exactly but it was many years ago. I remember skipping classes in high school and playing euchre in the cafeteria.
Posted by ziasmum:I learned to play euchre when I was in my teens and a group of us thought that going away camping for the weekend and playing cards for 48 hours straight was something fun to do. I didn't play again until I found yahoo and then when I met Adrian who was a devotee of Bridge who played Euchre to relax he taught me some of the finer points of the game.
Posted by still_insane_but_do_for_change: actually my ex hubby gets that credit. And then a few people like Greg and Bill helped me get to know it more. Thanks for the addiction teaching.....lol.
Posted by ripkin640: It was my cousin weeeeeeeeeeeeee
Posted by mickkassa: When I was 16 I moved to the west side from the east side, they didn't play euchre on the east side. So I was out one night with my friend and her boyfriend and his friends. I really don't remember my first time I was drinking. A couple years later picked it back up playing at eastern college with a bunch of cheating frat boys. I still get pissy when I think of them stacking the deck.
Posted by cuey100: My dad drank a lot and he always had his buddies over and they smokes some small looking cigarettes and they always played UKER and i sat on his lap sipped on his High life Miller beer ugh still the thought of tasting that again makes me cringe but the small looking cigs well never mind and i got too pull the cards outta my dads hand and i was a pretty quick study and i think that's how i became a drunk hehehe
Posted by ans1415: When I was 13 or 14 all I knew about fun was sports sports sports. (raised by my dad and a brother). Then I met my best friend (forever) on a softball team and she and her family taught me all about having fun playing card and board games.(she also taught me about alot of other things in life, like how to get into trouble, being the niave person I was I never got into trouble haha) My favorite was euchre, and here I am today.
Posted by midnight_wolf_2004: I learned the same way as Doris, by skipping school and playing in the lunch room and at parties. Boy how fast time goes.
Posted by Linnie_lou: Nobody, I had to read the directions... can't you tell?
Posted by lolliegobbleblissbomb_boo: I was taught to play euchre, by my cousin and her husband when I was nine years old, they called me in from watching the telly, they wanted to play something called cut throat, lol let me tell you I was bit worried, ever since I've loved euchre
Posted by lord_darth_vader_of_the_sith: I took lots of drama classes in High School because I enjoyed it, and in the Sophomore year I was eligible to take advanced drama which the school called Acting and Directing. All the students in the A&D class were allowed to have their lunch's on the loading dock off the back of the stage as a special privilege. My friends Scott Franke, Angela Bailey and Scott Grenlin taught me euchre and we all would meet during lunch and play till I graduated. I was 16 at the time.
Posted by _gloop: My first real boyfriend taught me. We used to smoke honey hash oil and play three handed euchre. It was him, me, and his best friend Dennis. I almost married that boy. We went out till we were 18. We were engaged. Just before the wedding I found him in bed with Dennis..the guy we used to play euchre with for years...I shoulda known :) He passed away with AIDS 10 years after we broke up....thank goodness I was going to be a virgin when we got married!!! Ok..lots of info...but as usual my life is an open book with you guys ;)
Posted by dsch1_osh: Back in '81 I was working in Oshawa( _osh in my name), Ontario and a group of old timers played euchre for quarters while having lunch in the lunchroom. I worked with Charlie MacDonald in the shipping dept and watched him and the other three play during lunch and ended up learning the game. Unfortunately Charlie succumbed to some injuries at work and did not have a long retirement. In '85 I moved out west To Calgary, Alberta as a Project Manager for the '88 Winter Olympics and the Lunchroom game there was Crib so learnt that while out West. In 2000-2001 I stumbled into Etna I joined the Mountain. Freebird helped me join and got me all set up and that was the start of my online euchre experience.
Posted by blue_meanies_in_pepperland: about 22 years ago,,,my boyfriend scott had some friends over and they needed a fourth to play so they got me play, but it was smitty who actually taught me online to kick #*^lol
Posted by flutefan1: iN ORDER TO GRADUATE COLLEGE HAD TO LEARN TO PLAY EUCHRE. I PASSED WITH FLYING CLOLORS SO HERE I AM CLIMBING DA MT TOGHTER LOL
Posted by riverdancer_tx: I learned online. euchre is unknown here in Texas
Posted by icecold_blues: Well if my playing is what you would call "knowing how to play" then first of all your all warped beyond even my imagining.... But as far the rules of the game goes I had an "According To Hoyle" book when I was 12 and needless to say (seeing as I was incredibly shy) had no friends growing up so I basically learned each and every one of those games in that book... Today euchre, spades, rummy, chess, cribbage, and poker (strictly for strip poker purposes) are the only games I still attempt to recall... In my opinion euchre is still the best game for online play due to it's quickness and relatively basic set of rules. i.e. the higher ranked card takes the trick. even an idiot such as myself can remember that so it has become my lifeline to the oustide universe. Thanx all for being my anchor in reality without you all i'm sure I'd be in a straight jacket in some insane asylum. Love you all
Posted by naked_smooooocher70: ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm i still don't know how but seriously my family was into cards when i was growing up we played a lot of spades, euchre, and canasta, and i have been playing since i was 13 years old so my family taught me.
Posted by smiley_girl_69r: my mom and dad had some friends over i was prolly around 7 or 8 at the time and my moms friends husband sat me down next to him let me watch him and finally let me play lol been playing ever since found this league back in, I'm guessing 2000-2001, and been here since cant leve now :)but we can boot greg out he cant play worth a chit lol
Posted by angierm: My best friend taught me how to play about 15 years ago in a bar lol.I didn't play too much however til I found the internet and yahoo in 1999 and I joined the league in February 2000 and the rest is history :)
Posted by cancan4ever330: My grandpa when i was about 8 lets see.....i was slow to grasp the concept of right/left so he'd call trump and lead the left and i always played wrong and id renig, but against grandpa a renig is an automatic loss. Also...if you have 3 you call - plain and simple. donating is the devils work and i spent a few years wondering what the hell the suit "hoyle for my p" looked like.....oh and you didn't talk you never said pass it was all knocks or a suit name lol. grandpa never had to play against people AND a computer program :)
Posted by x_din0mite_x: haha I thought this was an insult post at first. "You suck who taught you how to play euchre? I had a friend about 8 years ago teach me. He was originally from Waterloo, Ontario. Moved out to BC and I've been friends with him ever since. Who knew I would become a better player than him lol.
