Hi, Everyone!!
I’ve heard that the Swiss Evening was a BIG success, and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Naked, Zia, Linnie and Riverdancer for hosting all those tournaments. Not to mention all the people behind the scenes that helped organize it and put it together....without them it would never have happened!! And, most of all, I’d like to thank all of you ROCKIN’ Mountain players for showing up and setting the place afire!! Everyone has hectic schedules these days, but it was nice to see so many of you showed your support that evening, and I promise we’ll put another night together real soon!!
The Mountain Promotions Department is really going to try and keep things moving with special tournaments each month. For example, Lord Darth has his theme tournament each Monday at 9pm, plus, Zia and Dsch are running a monthly Battle of the Sexes, of which I’m happy to the men have won both months so far!!! We’re going to have many more events planned for your enjoyment around the Mountain, including trying to put something special together for Halloween. Keep an eye on the main page where Riverdancer will let you know what’s coming up!!
If anyone has any suggestions whatsoever that you might like to see planned, please feel free to contact me at harrie_ballsonya@yahoo.com.

Our player in the spotlight this month is Missteach – known to most of us as Sue. She was born on January 12, 1955 in the beautiful state of Kentucky. However she was raised in Southern Ohio by the beautiful Ohio River. She is the middle child of three girls. Her oldest sister is 5 years older and her baby sister is 13 years younger. Sometimes people think she Sue’s daughter – lol.
Sue graduated from High School 4th in her class in 1973. She attended Ohio University and graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She received her Master of Arts degree in 1986 from the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio. This year is her 30th year of teaching and she could retire this year. She can't though because she loves to gamble too much. She can't afford to retire – lol.
She married her husband, Louie, in 1984. They have no children together. However he has three from a previous marriage, so she is a grandma to 9, and a great grandma to 4.
Sue originally played in Etna many years ago. She played in the old tourney room and was a td there for many years. She joined Mountain Euchre on October 12, 2000. She was one of Gloop's first td's in Etna and was also a Head Td there. However, real life caught up with her and she moved on. Until recently, she was a td here at the mountain. Once again, real life caught up with her and she resigned because she just didn't have her heart into hosting anymore. Real life was really stressing her out.
As far as favorite partners - she really don't have a favorite one. She plays with whoever will partner her! Her euchre skills have really sucked as of late, so she says she is lucky to get a partner now – lol. She does like to partner Caddiemaster though and does whenever he is available too.
Sue has met some players on the Mountain in real life. She attended several live tourneys. She likes everyone she has met so she considers everyone her friend on the mountain. She doesn’t like to piss people off and is very sensitive. She has been told that she wears her heart on her sleeve.
Sue had a collie that looked just like Lassie. He got arthritis and hip displacia and they had to put him down 4 years ago. She still misses him and still has his picture on their wall and also in a frame on her desk at school.
The most famous person she has met is Jack Roush, the owner of Nascar's Roush Racing - she has had dinner with him several times. Sue’s husband has traveled with Jack's brother to the Nascar Races several times.
My goodness, Sue could write a book about her life. She thinks the most amusing story she can tell here is that she was drunk when she got married. The guests were taking bets as to whether she would even show up – lol.
Sue and her husband own a house in Las Vegas and she goes there whenever she can. She absolutely loves it out there and has won quite a few Jackpots over the years.
The hardest thing she has ever had to do in her life so far is to admit her folks to a Nursing Home Center. The one thing she said she would never do – ever, and as she has power of attorney over them, she has had to make some very hard decisions concerning life/death situations. So far, she has made the right decisions, they are both still alive and doing ok.
The highlight of her life right now is her new nephew. He is so cute. Sue hates that he lives in California but when she retires she will see him a lot more. She calls him stinkybutt. When she first met him, he decided to take a good dump and boy did she gag! She cannot to this day call him Tee. He will always be stinkybutt to her – lol.
Over the years, she has written many poems. She was published once in a Teacher Book and received the Who's Who Among America's Teachers award 4 different times. She also received the Exceptional Teacher award for Special Education Teachers.
Sue has sent some lovely photos of her family.

This months Pet Article features Rick aka ice_cold_blues dog……
“PEYTON GRACE HOWARD”
Peyton was said to be a lab/Shepard mix by the Humane Society, but Rick says he’s a “100% Heinz.” Lol He is now 11 years old.
Peyton was named after the running back, an obvious favorite of his owner.
Rick adopted him from the Humane Society when he was 6 ½ weeks old after going through a lottery type drawing, as there were 3 others that wanted him. As luck would have it, Rick won the lottery and very happily took Peyton home. Rick says he fell in love with Peyton the minute he laid eyes on him. So, he was glad he won, otherwise, he would have been forced to go home and cry over a box of bon-bons and milk for countless hours, maybe even the entire weekend! (Ok I added the last part, but it sounded good. Didn’t it? Hehe)
Peyton weighs a whopping 58 pounds and eats Kibbles and Bits, but will soon be dieting on Science diet, as he is a little over weight and older.
Rick says that Peyton is a very lovable and mild mannered dog that loves being by his side. They grill various foods together, which Rick claims is what has put the weight on his beloved pet in the first place.
It seems Peyton is not only a loveable, friendly dog, but he also has a personality of his own that is quite humorous!
One day when Peyton was still a puppy, he wanted to play with Rick and was generally being annoying. Rick told him “Peyton. If you don’t stop. I’m going to shoot you! “
He didn’t stop, so Rick looked at him in the eye, help up his fingers in a gun shape and said, “bang.” Then, Peyton stopped, fell over with his paws in the air and played dead!! Lol He has been doing that ever since. Rick laughed so hard! He figured “something that cute deserved his attention!” so they played for the next hour and a half.
Rick expects to have many more years of love and laughter with his wonderful pet Peyton.
Thanks, Rick for sharing Peyton with us and for a great story!!!!!!!!

Harrie’s Louisiana Shrimp from harrie_ballsonya
First of all, let me say that, as with most recipes, it is best to use as little measurement devices as possible and to constantly change this recipe while adding your own style and flare each and every time you make this dish. But, for simplification purposes, I’ll include measurements with these instructions.
(T) = Tablespoon (t) =Teaspoon.
Prep:
- Boil enough wild brown rice to cover the bottom of a casserole dish.
- Peel, de-vein and butterfly 2 pounds of decent size shrimp
- Chop 3 elephant garlic cloves
- Chop 2 (T) fresh Rosemary
- Chop 1 (t) fresh basil, 1 (t) thyme, 1 (t) oregano
Cooking:
In a 12-inch skillet, melt 1 pound of butter in a ¼ cup of peanut oil. Add the garlic and sauté until garlic is soft and slightly golden.
Next add to the pan: rosemary, basil, thyme, oregano, 2 crumbled bay leaves, 2 (t) of black pepper, 1 (T) of paprika, 2 (t) of lemon juice, 2 (T) ground cayenne pepper, and a pinch of salt.
Bring the concoction to a quick boil then simmer for no more than 10 minutes. Let the sauce set and marry for about half an hour.
Then, stir and re-heat the sauce again and add the shrimp. Let the shrimp cook in the sauce until nice and pink.
Remove the cooked shrimp and place on the bed of rice. Stir the sauce and spoon evenly over the entire bed of shrimp and rice.
Pre-heat the oven to 400 and bake the dish for no more than 15 minutes.
Finally, serve and enjoy…….and wait for your guests to ask you for this recipe.
Final Note:
This dish was created from scratch, experimented and evolved over many years. And, I’m constantly making changes each and every time I make it….for instance, lately I’ve been adding spicy sausage to the rice. Make sure you do the same…make it your own!!!
Have fun, add your own style and be sure to let me know how it tastes!!!
Peggy's Pumpkin Pie (Sugar free, but nobody will ever know!) from riverdancer_tx 3 eggs
1 ½ cups of pumpkin (Libby's 100% pumpkin in a can)
1/3 cup of honey
2 tsp pumpkin spice
1 ½ cups of evaporated milk
½ tsp sea salt
Preheat the over at 425 degrees. Beat the eggs. Add the pumpkin and honey and mix well. Combine the pumpkin spice and salt with the pumpkin mixture. Slowly beat in the milk. Pour in to a prepared 9" or 10" pie shell and bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes and then at 325 degrees for 45 minutes.
Serve with cool whip or fresh whipped cream.
Voila! Instant delicious pie! It might sound weird that this pie has no sugar in it, but it's really delicious and the first time I tasted it, I was amazed to find out that it had no sugar.
The next recipe is my absolute favorite and it might seem complicated, but I'm no cook and I have prepared it countless times.
Blueberry Yum Yum
2 cups of frozen blueberries
2 cups sugar (divided)
¼ cup water
¼ cup cornstarch
3 tbsp water
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup margarine (softened)
1 cup pecans (finely chopped)
1 - 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
1 - 8 oz Cool Whip
Combine the blueberries (still frozen) and ¼ cup of water. Cook until soft and then add 1 cup of sugar. Combine the cornstarch and 3 tablespoons of water and add it to blueberry mixture. Set aside to cool.

The Best Gift I Ever Received...
From flutefan1 (Alan):
My best holiday gift I ever received or will get is to wake up in the morning and have my health, friends,
and happiness to carry on for another day. I just love life.
From shadylady0:
Here is my story. It was not a Christmas gift but a 4th anniversary present from Peter. When Blue and I started going out we were only 15. When Blue decided to ask me to marry him he had just started his job with the Toronto Police and was not making a lot of money and was paying for his 1st car. So the engagement ring he bought me was beautiful but was all he could afford at the time. We had been married for 4 years when he took me out to dinner at Swiss Chalet for our anniversary. Swiss Chalet is a plain family chicken restaurant nothing special, but I did not matter we were together. After we were done and walking out the door he came over to the passenger car door and opened the door for me and then closed it once I was in. He then got into his side and I said to him, as I was putting on my seat belt, I wish we were still going out cuz it was nice that you opened the door to the car for me just like you did when we were going out. I turned around and he had an opened box with a new set of Wedding rings and said you still just want to be going out with me. I cried for an hour after that. I am not one for surprises, in fact when Xmas comes around I go looking for my presents. But let me tell you that was the best present ever that I have got. And now after 21 years of marriage we are still going strong.
Love Blueknight as much today as when we first got married.
